Subject: Ever wondered what a maroon low-frame P looks like?

Many thanks to Brian Jones for the following ...

These photos were sent out by some of the volunteer team involved in bringing this old girl back to life.

For everyone who is interested, the official photos of the Powerhouse Museum's 3265 were taken today, and we took the opportunity to snap a couple as well. It's lined up in the same place as a railway photograph of it, taken after it was outshopped in 1948 (I think), which we thought was rather fitting. Luckily both of us have very understanding bosses, and we were allowed to skive off into Eveleigh to be a part of it all.

This is the culmination of eleven years work, and there were many times over those years that I thought it would never happen. Just goes to show what a good team and lots of perserverence can do.

And many thanks to Jeff Armstrong for the following

Just a brief report and a bit of a skite...

Today (20 Sep) was 3265's First Day out in Revenue Service and I was aboard the first of the two runs she did today.

While waiting for her come into Platform One I was speaking with a very knowledgeable young 'un whom I later recognized in Geoff Sims' story on the ABC News this evening. Bumped into Max Gaye as well but only to say Hello to.

The run to Bankstown along the Bankstown line and return to Central via Regents Park was typical of a P Class. She was loving her day out, steaming along effortlessly even lifting the safeties while under load as she charged the mild grade to Regents Park. The grade was too slight to make her really work but she ran as sweet as sugar.

I attached a few pictures for you to use if you want.
cheers,
Jeff Armstrong
