Illawarra Live Steamers has held an annual Hot Pot Run invitational event during the 3-day Kings’s Birthday Weekend since 1995.

Local and visiting club members run trains with as much rolling stock as can be mustered in a railway like fashion.  The weekend is closed to the public, with night running permitted.

The aim of the weekend is to have a relaxing time, exchanging ideas with other live steam enthusiasts and have fun driving our locomotives plus experiencing night time running in balmy Wollongong evening weather.

Entry Fee:  The time-honoured tradition of a donation of 3 cans of soup or $15 per person for the weekend.

Soups are separated into several large 'Hot Pots' for attendee meals. Unused soup cans are donated to charity.

Facilities:

  • The BBQ area will be available to our Members and Visitors, outside paid breakfast meal events.

  • 5" Track

  • 3.5" Raised Track

  • Garden Gauge 1 - well laid out configuration, encouraging the attendance of garden gauge locos and rolling stock

  • Internal roads for Traction Engines

  • Creek area for boats (please let us know in advance)

  • Limited Camping/Caravan sites are available, which book out well in advance

  • A number of Suppliers are often onsite each year to provide items for sale at their Trade Stands on Saturday and Sunday.
